Meet Jeremiah: Jewston's Mensch of the Month!

Carly: Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do for a living?

Jeremiah: My name is Jeremiah Leventhal and while I was born in Pittsburgh, PA I grew up in Houston, TX. I am a high school social studies teacher and won teacher of the year at my campus!

Carly: What was your 'Jewish experience' like in college?

Jeremiah: At the University of Texas at Austin I was a member of a historical jewish fraternity, Sigma Alpha Mu, and frequently attended events through Hillel and Chabad. My senior year I was the innovations tent chair for the campus Israel Block Party.

Carly: How has living in Houston been for you?

Jeremiah: How else could it be in Houston but great! I have made amazing friends and the city has had so much to offer from the food scene to the insane month that is Rodeo.

Carly: What has been the biggest surprise about living in Houston?

Jeremiah: It never ceases to amaze me that Houston has one of the most underrated food scenes in the country. No matter what type of cuisine you want you can find it at a high level in Houston.

Carly: What do you enjoy most about Jewston events?

Jeremiah: I have enjoyed the diversity of activities. Events I’ve attended range from Astros games and Rodeo concerts to talks on the Jewish views of abortion and Hanukah parties.

Carly: What do you do for fun?

Jeremiah: I am a weekly bar trivia attendee and DnD player. Outside of those two hobbies, I enjoy long walks on the beach while watching the sunset
