Meet Mor: Jewston's Mensch of the Month!

Carly: Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do for a living?

Mor: My name is Mor Hay Haim Dvash I’m a 20+4 year old, pure sexy Israeli born and raised. I love life, laughing, going out with friends, and playing pool and soccer, and I really love dogs, even more than humans.

Carly: What was your 'Jewish experience' like in college?

Mor: I came from a massive trip from the East and west coast here to Houston for a family visit and discovered here an Amazing Jewish community. After I finished my service as a combat soldier at the IDF (Thank God) I started my own business as an E-commerce consultant and business advisor for large companies, after 3 years in this field I created a Real Estate company and that’s what I’m doing today in Israel. I also have a degree in International Import and Export from Tel Aviv Chamber Academy. It’s kinda easy to tell about my Jewish experience because I live in Israel, Since we go to college only after the army and at a very late age, I will tell you about my Jewish experience in the army which was a very important part of my life.

as a Jew, I’ve been doing Shabbat dinners and all Of that stuff, it was nice. But doing it while you are serving in the army is way better and more fulfilling. When you are guarding a near border town or a small city in a dangerous area at the exact time of the Shabbat dinner, you allow The citizens to do their Shabbat dinner safely, they can eat because of you, they can drink because of you, because you guard them, even though you are not doing Shabbat dinner, you are feeling fulfilled. Another amazing memory I have is that when I came from a mission during Shabbat day, the Jewish community and the city rebbi came and gave us food and spoke with us about Torah and Mitzvot and the kids of the city draw us a drawing, and I keep them, until today.

Carly: How has your time in Houston been?

Mor: Let’s be honest, Houston is not Vegas or New York but overall, Houston is Amazing, I really like the people here and especially the Jewish community of Jewston, I really like the culture here, it’s quite different from the Israeli but I got used to that and I love it! The people here are nice and polite, the restaurants are good and the bars here are really good.

Carly: What has been the biggest surprise about living in Houston?

Mor: I was really surprised when I came here to Houston after being in New York and California, the gas prices over there were 7.50$ per gallon, and when I came here to Houston and saw that a gallon cost 2.50$ I was like “Why the hell I didn’t come here at first” and I decided to fill up 1000 gallons here and go sell it in California.. or in Israel.

Carly: What do you enjoy most about Jewston events?

Mor: About the Jewston events, I love it, every event is different and I like it, but the thing I really appreciate and love the most is the fact that there are people behind this organization that really want this thing to grow and really care about us, the members, whether it’s donators, workers, managers, presidents, Carly, Kenny, Daniel, the Jewish Agency and whoever over there with that good spirit and purpose, I don’t know if someone told you that you are doing amazing work and your work is appreciated, so I am here to tell it to you, Thank you

Carly: Is there anything else you want the Jewston community to know?

Mor: What do I like to do for fun, I really enjoy playing soccer, I was a professional in Israel. I love photography and take pictures of everything! As long as it’s Beautiful like you. If you’ll be around me, I’ll take great pictures of you, I got you!
