Carly: Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do for a living?
Reena: Hi I’m Reena. I was born and raised in Houston. I work as a paralegal for an oil and gas firm, where I assist with legal research and document preparation. In addition, I support the litigation side of the firm, helping attorneys with various aspects of the legal process related to our cases.
Carly: What was your 'Jewish experience' like in college?
Reena: My Jewish experience in college was limited. The school didn’t have a large Jewish community, and I didn’t meet other Jewish students until my final year, just before I moved back to Houston. With the added challenges of COVID, I didn’t have many opportunities to connect with my Jewish identity. Now that I’m back in Houston, I’m so grateful to have connected with the Jewston community, which has been a meaningful way for me to explore and embrace it.
Carly: How has your time in Houston been so far?
Reena: My time in Houston has been great. Moving back has given me the chance to explore aspects of the city I didn’t fully appreciate before—whether it’s trying new activities or discovering places I hadn’t visited. I’ve also been able to reconnect with old friends and build stronger relationships, which has been really fulfilling. It’s been a great period of rediscovery.
Carly: What do you do for fun?
Reena: For fun, I love going to concerts and listening to music. I also enjoy watching movies, TV shows, and reading books—basically anything that lets me unwind and get lost in a good story. I also like to mix things up by trying new activities and checking out different events whenever I can.
Carly: What do you enjoy most about Jewston events?
Reena: What I enjoy most about Jewston is the chance to connect with people who share similar interests, as well as those with different perspectives. I appreciate having both kinds of connections, as they help me grow and feel more connected to the Jewish community.
